The Setmaster line includes many models of collators with sheet sizes from 130 mm x 100 mm (5.5 x 4 inches) to 707 mm x 1000 mm (27.83 x 39.37 inches), which handle thicknesses from 20g/m2 to 1000g/m2 (approx. 13 lb. book to 600 lb. tag). The collators can be equipped with any number of stations (above a minimum, which varies depending on the model). The feeding stations, which load on the run, are equipped with an adjustable feeding head with multiple suction points and air-blast separation, ensuring accurate sheet transfer. Double- and missing- sheet detectors are fitted as standard.

A great number of options are available to tailor the Setmaster collators to meet your needs, making them the most versatile collators manufactured today; included are: stitch/fold/trim unit; duplex system; head, corner; or loop stitcher; hole puncher; cross folding unit; ultrasonic welder; shrink wrapper; variable speed jogger; criss-cross jogger; gluing unit; computerized operation; deep-pile feeding; hand-feed station; crash numbering; deep pile delivery unit; and more. ts reputation for collating dependability and versatility in the printing industry is the reason that associated industries have called upon Setmasters to solve their collating problems.

FEEDING POCKETS can be loaded on-the-fly.
Air blasts separate and lift sheets.
The suction feeding heads pick up the stock and instantaneously follow with a quick jerking motion to dislodge any clinging sheets.
The adjustable-suction on the feeding heads makes it possible to collate just about anything from carbon paper, NCR sheets and newsprint or booklets, brochures and CDs to wallpaper and Braille sheets or plastics and vinyl floor tiles.

DEEP-PILE FEEDING PALLETS are available for pre-loading when collating thick materials and high-volume jobs. Two pile heights are available: 153/4"(40 cm) and 341/4"(87 cm).

BOOKLET MAKING option...
STITCH/FOLD/TRIM UNIT

Attach the unit to the end of the collator to add the capability of making booklets. Collate, align, stitch, fold and face trim in a single operation.

STITCHING
1 The triple-knock, triple-point registration system precisely aligns sheets before they are stitched.
2 Highly-reputed Hohner stitching heads come standard on the machine.


The stitched sheets are folded by the KNIFE FOLDER before traveling through self-adjusting compression rollers. The books come out flat with well-creased spines.


The heavy-duty knife system FACE TRIMS books up to 1/4 inch thick with ease, and up to 1/2 inch thick with optional modification. (An optional three-knife trimmer is available.)

OTHER ATTACHMENTS available...

VARIABLE SPEED JOGGER, with the straight and criss-crossing option, keeps sheets perfectly stacked so further finishing can be done without additional jogging.

The REJECT TRAY is triggered by the double-sheet detector to intercept and receive irregular sets without interrupting production.

DUOMOTION splits the machine for two-way operation to give you the ability to run two smaller jobs simultaneously with one job running to the right and the other job running to the left.
It offers efficient use of time and equipment.

In-line pneumatic CRASH NUMBERING on NCR paper ensures that sheets within a set have the same number. The compact numbering heads include a four-roller inking system and are equipped with reliable Leibinger numbering boxes. It comes with an independent air compressor but can be fitted to your existing air line.

HEAVY-DUTY SUCTION HEADS for collating larger heavier items.

DEEP-PILE DELIVERY UNIT with castor mounted pallets is available for high-volume or large-sheet collating. A tabbing device is available to separate sets.

COMPUTERIZED OPERATION allows you to enter the job parameters into the control module and let the Setmaster automatically complete the job, self-correcting missing- or double-sheets, and close down when completed. It also provides a job status report and stores the job for recall.

The unique, patented DUPLEX SYSTEM divides the standard feeding pockets in two to double the number of feeding stations for collating smaller items. No tools are required for the simple and quick conversion.

DUPLEX COLLATING
All or some of the pockets may be divided, allowing greater flexibility in the sizes and types of materials collated.

Setup and changeovers are quickly and easily achieved by simple adjustment of MAGNETIC SIDE AND BACK STOPS.

FEEDING HEADS


FEEDING HEADS are suction adjustable and position adjustable.
They are gravitationally self-compensating and automatically adjust to the pile height.

Optional ELECTRONIC MISSING- AND DOUBLE- SHEET DETECTORS at each pocket have auto-calibrating sensors that will pause the machine to self-correct, then continue. If it doesn't correct, it turns the machine off. A single control sets all of the detectors.

SERVO DRIVEN CONVEYOR
The feeding heads place the sheets onto the SERVO DRIVEN CONVEYOR for precise alignment and transfer.
No marking occurs on the sheets when they are picked up by suction and transferred on raised conveyor belts.
Optional jogging action on the conveyor aligns the sheets for further in-line applications.

TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL PANEL
Complete command of the feeding pockets and collating process is made from a single TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL PANEL, carried out by a Siemens PLC controller.
Variable-speed control allows easy setup and single person operation.
Missing-sheet detection is indicated by a reduction in the vacuum and the machine shuts off to allow correction.
Double-sheet detection is performed by the mechanical caliper at the end of the collating process.
